Purpose of the Role

An established Infrastructure and Energy (IE) team is seeking an experienced lawyer with 1+ PQE to advise both public and private sector clients on various energy and transport projects. The role involves managing commercial contracts related to energy infrastructure and transport while advising on a wide range of issues within these sectors. The successful candidate will work with a diverse clientele, including developers, private equity funds, and financial institutions.

The Team

The IE practice is recognised for its comprehensive expertise and quality service, consistently ranked among the top tier in industry directories. The team provides innovative and commercial advice throughout the lifecycle of clients' projects, covering sectors such as waste management, renewable energy, transport, and healthcare both in the UK and globally. The team has tackled challenging assignments for a wide range of clients, including energy suppliers, governmental agencies, and major developers.

Recent notable projects include:

  • Gas to the West pipeline project.
  • Collaboration between VW and Ford Motor Company.
  • Nissan’s microgrid initiative.
  • Advising various energy suppliers in Great Britain (SSE, Ovo, Octopus, Engie) on significant projects.

The transport team has extensive experience, advising on national and international projects, including passenger services contracts and high-profile projects like HS2.

What to Expect:

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial documents and managing transaction processes.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior team members.
  • Actively participating in business development efforts, including networking and client training.
  • Taking on leadership roles in developing junior talent within the team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Expertise:

  • 1+ PQE with experience in the Infrastructure, Energy, and Transport sectors; candidates with a corporate background are also encouraged to apply.
  • Proven ability to support complex transactions and collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines.
  • Experience in advising energy clients on a national scale is preferred.
  • Strong client-facing skills with a passion for intellectually stimulating work.
  • Ambitious and confident in delivering high-quality outcomes.
