This firm is medium sized with just over 100 fee earners, specialising in Corporate and Property law. They are based in prestigious offices in the West End. 

They have an exciting opportunity for a strong Reporting Accountant to join there expanding Finance team. This role will initially be a 12-month contract. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with month end and year end processes
  • Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts and associated reports within agreed timescales
  • Prepare and review monthly cashflow and P&L forecasts
  • Update budget holders monthly with their expenditure and assisting with any queries they may have
  • Review the general ledgers including participating in balance sheet reconciliation e.g. accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, depreciation etc. to ensure the ledgers are as accurate as possible
  • Assist with annual revenue and expenditure budgeting
  • Review and publish other recurring reports to the relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare and review any consultancy commission agreements
  • Assist with preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Prepare and present insightful ad-hoc financial management information to support our legal group heads and other partners in leading their practices
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide guidance and financial information e.g. legal press surveys, new business pitches, any other financial data required for marketing purposes, client risks data, as well as ensuring mutual data on non-finance systems tie up
  • Complete and submit external reporting information such as government surveys and carbon reporting
  • Assist with the annual external audit including preparation of statutory accounts
  • Provide reporting support to the revenue and cashiering teams
  • Assist with all other internal and external reporting delivered by the reporting team
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned by management

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in the legal or professional services industry (preferable)  
  • Strong practical experience of the principles of accounting, forecasting & budgeting
  • Ability to advice and influence key stakeholders as well as proactively challenge to drive progressive change for the business
  • Highly numerate with strong IT skills including MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Knowledge of Power BI (desirable)
  • Knowledge of 3E cloud (desirable)
  • ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA qualified
