About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Commercial IT Associate (5+ PQE) to join the renowned IT practice of a leading law firm. This role sits within the Commercial IP/IT/Data Privacy team and focuses on leading high-profile transactions for clients across sectors such as technology, life sciences, financial services, media, and more.

This is a unique chance to work on cutting-edge technology contracts, IT outsourcing, and digital transformation projects while advising on emerging technologies and complex regulatory frameworks. The successful candidate will take a lead role in transactions, build client relationships, and contribute to business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on technology contracts, including software development, licensing, systems integration, and hardware supply agreements.
  • Lead on IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing projects.
  • Support clients with digital transformation initiatives, including cloud computing, AI, blockchain, and cybersecurity projects.
  • Provide advice on emerging technologies and their related regulations, particularly in areas like AI, distributed ledger technology, and open-source software.
  • Act as a trusted legal advisor to clients in key sectors, including technology, life sciences, and financial services.
  • Collaborate with other teams across the firm to deliver comprehensive solutions for clients.
  • Contribute to business development, including attending industry events and preparing client pitches.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer with 5+ years’ PQE, with a strong focus on Commercial IT or technology transactions.
  • Demonstrable experience advising on IT contracts, outsourcing, and emerging technologies.
  • A genuine interest in the technology sector and a proactive approach to staying ahead of industry trends.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ambition to grow within a leading IT practice.
