They have 1,000 lawyers located in 10 offices in the world’s key financial centres and political capitals collaborate seamlessly to deliver exceptional service, sophisticated advice and creative, practical solutions.
They are now looking for an Accounts Assistant, this role supports the Accounts team by performing a range of tasks. This includes the processing of weekly staff expenses, the provision of management information, and ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve expense claims, ensuring compliance with the firm’s internal control procedures.
- Pay expense claims weekly via the firm’s online system.
- Prepare and distribute weekly utilisation reports for the London and Brussels offices
- Prepare the weekly European Bank Balances report
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting queries both from fee earners and support staff
- Provide cover for the Accounts Coordinator and assist on day-to-day accounting work during busy periods
- Assist with accurately processing vendor invoices through the Accounts Payable system and setting payments up on the banking platform
- Post cash receipts and send out cash receipt notifications
- Set up new vendors in the system
- Support the Billing Coordinator on day-to-day billing work during busy periods
- Assist with time transfers, time splits and time narrative edits
- Assist with creating prebills and processing write offs
- Collate data for end of tax year P11d forms for submission to HM Revenue & Customs (“HMRC”).
- Maintain an analysis of overheads incurred in respect of staff benefits to be included in the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement report to HMRC
- Prepare the monthly reconciliations for the London client bank accounts, ensuring compliance with the SAR. Follow up on any client account balances, ensuring that these are resolved in a timely manner
- Post any payments and receipts from / into the London client bank accounts
- Provide support for the annual SRA audit
Candidate Profile
- Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Aderant experience preferred but not essential
- Ability to proofread typed material for typographical, spelling and grammatical errors
- Ensure confidentiality of all the Firm’s and clients documentation and information
- Experience in accounts department of a professional services firm
- Law firm experience ideal but not necessary
- Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules ideal but not necessary
